Portage River Bicycle Tour, Sunday, June 28, 2026

THE 49th PORTAGE RIVER TOUR starts at Woodmore High School in Elmore Ohio and follows the meandering Portage River from its beginnings in Wood County toward Lake Erie. This is flat country - the biggest hill? a highway overpass. With routes of 10, 32 and new and improved 64 miles, it offers distances for all riders - novice to expert. The family friendly 10 Mile route is mostly on the paved rail trail. Routes are marked with pavement arrows. SAG service is available for emergencies or non-repairable breakdowns.
WHERE: The Village of Elmore is located 25 miles SE of Toledo in Ottawa County, at exit #81 on the Ohio Turnpike (I-80). Registration at Woodmore High School, 633 Fremont Street, Elmore, OH 43416-9737
WHEN: Sunday June 28th. Registration from 7 to 10 am. Longer distance riders should start early. Riders must complete their rides by 4 pm.
GPS FILES & MAPS: You can download GPS files and print maps from RideWithGPS once the routes are confirmed. Printed maps will be available at the start, please request during registration.
FOOD: Lunch for all riders at Portage River Festival in Elmore’s Ory Park, served by Elmore Historical Society. Fruit, snacks and drinks at rest stops on all routes. Ory Park address: 358 Harris St.
CHILDREN are encouraged to participate to the extent of their abilities. Parent or guardian must sign release form for riders under age 18. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

LODGING: Nearest motels in Fremont, Perrysburg and Bowling Green. Camping is permitted in Elmore’s Ory Park on Saturday night, June 27th. Campers must depart from the park by 8:30AM Sunday morning.
HELMETS: All riders are required to wear an ANSI/Snell/CPSC approved helmet while riding.
SAFETY: Ohio law regards the bicycle as a vehicle. The same rules apply to a bicyclist or a motorist. This means riding WITH traffic, stopping at all stop signs and red lights and giving hand signals to indicate turns. Be courteous to motorists and move to the right in single file to permit vehicles to pass. Your Safety is your responsibility.
